Innovative Daylighting Systems - Planning Reliability Ensured!

Innovative daylighting systems enable occupants to efficiently use daylight - both with regard to a building's energy performance and the users' well being. Presently, a great variety of such systems is available, and many others are still subject to further development. These systems range from scattering systems and fixed, light-redirecting systems to movable reflectors on the basis of metallic or dielectric mirrors. Besides focussing on multifunctional glazings, efforts also concentrate on advancing solar shading systems that are intended to supply workplaces with glarefree daylight while preventing excess temperatures .

So far, it was not possible to reliably predict to what extent a system would meet these requirements, neither during development nor in the planning stage of a building. Within the framework of a BMVBA-funded joint research project innovative computer-assisted daylighting calculation tools were developed, which are available right now. These tools allow complex daylighting and shading systems to be evaluated and to be integrated into the planning process. The following modules and functionalities are available for direct use or for integration in tertiary applications:
